Impecable taste and enormous creative courage is what i believe typifies this Portuguese artist , António Alonso . He seemingly finds himself at ease working on a wall-sized canvas , as he does sketching on a 5 x 7 inch card . I was fortunate to watch him work , and witnessed the decisions he made concerning design , line , color and composition ; they just poured out of him with no hesitation what so ever . He seems to have mentally ingested all schools of artistic trought , and added his take of the world to the mix .His work resonates internationally - he is a man for all seasons . His easygoing personality contrasts his definite criative beliefs , yet he maintains an open mind . He is as attentive to details concerning his paintings as he is when displaying them . A gallery exhibition as a whole becomes a vertical presentation , and a very tastefully done work of art in his hands . His artwork is an esquisite makekup of whimsical forms , futuristic shapes , a modern color pallete , and a contaiming line that directs the onlooker over the surface of the paintings , which is by and large carefree , much like his philosophy of life . As to , where is the future of his art headed ? He leaves that for others to ponder . So far , this family man feels fortunate with his artistic journey , and has faith it will continue to bring him many rewards .
