There are artists that live and create in large cities - making them part of their cultural universe - and those that need a closer contact with nature . In the country side near Barão de S . João , in the western Algarve - having come from Angola , where he was born , António Alonso lives with his tribe - his wife , childrens , friends ,horses and birds . It´s a creative corner basking in the harmony between the ligth of the south and the aroma of the earth . Every now an then , he leaves and travel afar - to Brazil Latin América ,Cape Verde ,Japan , New York  ; in order to experience different colours , and feel new emotions ... After a recent stay in Cape Verde - and his time with the Rabelados - artistic community on Santiago island - Alonso recycled some tin cans and transformthem into colourful sculptures that decorate the front of his house . The accumulation of all these experiences return with him to his artist´s studio where , over many meters of canvas , he relives them - with the joyful colours of the traveller .

Há artistas que vivem e criam nas grandes cidades , fazendo elas parte do seu universo cultural , outros necessitam um contato maior com a natureza . Lá para os lados de Barão de S. João , Algarve , vindo de Angola , onde nasceu , António Alonso vive com a sua tribo - mulher , filhos ,amigos , cavalos e pássaros - num território criativo em harmonia com a luz do sul e o cheiro da terra . De vez em quando parte e viaja para longe - Brasil , América Latina , Cabo Verde , Japão , Nova York - para ver outras cores e sentir novas emoções ....  De uma recente estadia em Cabo Verde , e da sua experiencia com os Rabelados da ilha de Santiago , Alonso recupera bidões de lata que transfigura em coloridas esculturas instaladas em frente da sua casa . O acumular destas vivencias voltam com ele para o seu atelier onde , em muitos metros de tela , são revividas pictoricamente as delirantes impressões do viajante .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Carlos Barroco
